How to Delete Messages on Telegram Cloud?
To prevent your messages on Telegram from being stored in the cloud, you can delete them from a chat and from any device. You can also easily delete messages you have sent and received. To delete messages in a Telegram chat, you should follow the instructions below:
- Open Telegram and select the chat you want to delete messages from.
- Then press and hold your finger on the message you want to delete.
- Tap the Delete option.
- You can delete the message for yourself only or to include the other party as well.
- Finally, tap Delete again to confirm.
Once you’ve done this, messages on Telegram will be deleted from your device only, or from both your and the recipient’s devices. Of course, your messages will also be deleted from Telegram’s server.
If you have more than two people in your chat, you can delete previously sent messages from all devices. However, there is a time limit: at least 48 hours must pass. After 48 hours, you can only delete your message from your own device. Your messages will remain on the devices of the other people you chatted with and on the Telegram server.
How to Delete Secret Telegram Messages?
For complete privacy on Telegram, you can use secret chats instead of cloud chats. To start a secret chat with a user, select the username in Telegram and then follow the sequence More (three vertical dots in the upper right corner) > Start Secret Chat. On iOS devices, when you press and hold on the chat, nothing will appear. But if you swipe the message to the left, you will see a ‘Delete‘ option. Tapping here will delete the message, either from yourself or from both parties.
How to Delete Telegram Messages Automatically?
You can set your messaging with anyone on Telegram to be automatically deleted after a while. To enable the automatic deletion of messages in Telegram, you should follow the instructions below:
- Go to the chat screen with any contact in Telegram.
- For Android, follow the sequence More > Clear History > Auto-delete messages in this chat.
- For iOS, press and hold your finger on any message in the chat. From the options that appear, go to Select > Clear chat > Enable Auto Delete.
You can then choose to have your messages deleted 24 hours, 7 days or 1 month after sending.
How to Delete All Messages on Telegram?
You can also get rid of all your messages on Telegram. To do this, first open the app and then tap the trash can icon at the top of the screen. You will see a notification asking if you want to delete messages only from yourself or from both sides. If you choose the latter, your messages will be deleted from all devices and Telegram’s servers.

- Open the Telegram app and go to the page with the channel.
- Find the message you want to delete and press and hold on it.
- Tap “Delete” from the drop-down menu.
- A checkbox will pop up asking “Are you sure you want to delete this message?“. Tap “Delete“.
- Your message will be deleted in the channel.
Apart from that, if the “discussion” feature is enabled in Telegram channels, channel messages will not be deleted unless you disable this feature. To disable the discussion feature, go to the channel settings, find the “Discussion” option and disable it. This will make it easier to delete your channel messages.
