You’ve been invited to groups on Instagram, sometimes by people you know and sometimes by people you don’t. This has two annoying consequences: The first is when people you don’t know force you to join a group. The second is that you can’t find where these groups are located in the app. In this article, we will address both of these issues.
How to See What Groups I’m In On Instagram?
Have you been added to a group chat on Instagram but can’t find it in direct messages? Follow the steps below to find it:
- Open the Instagram app.
- Tap the paper airplane icon in the top right corner of the screen to access your direct messages.
- Scroll through your conversations to see if the group chat is listed. It should appear next to your other individual and group chats.
- If you still can’t find the group chat, search for it using the search bar at the top of your direct messages. Type the name of the group or any keywords related to it.
- If the group chat still does not appear, it is possible that you have been removed from the group or the group chat has been deleted.
- If you are unable to find the group chat using the steps above, you may want to reach out to the person who added you to the group for further assistance.
Note: Recently, a lot of bot accounts have been spamming to promote things (usually things like fake nude photos or videos) by creating group chats and randomly adding people. Since this is against Instagram’s Community Guidelines, Instagram will detect it and delete the group before you see the notification or ban the user who created the group chat. So one of the biggest reasons why you don’t see these groups you’ve been invited to is because Instagram detects it and bans the group or the user who created the group chat.
